Swatching
Believe it or not, I've been busy. Since the last post, I have finished off another ten-stitch blanket and have started another batch of chemo caps.
The next project in the lineup is the Hue Shift Afghan. It has two techniques I've never tried before; therefore, I'm swatching:
Quite frankly, I was afraid I would be too stupid to figure out how to do the striping without having a big mess in the back. Since you pick up the extra color on the same end of the work, it wound up being surprisingly easy. The difficulty now is figuring out how to make that end look neat. At the moment, it's all big loops. So, this swatch will be ripped out and restarted. Once the edges are figured out and an entire mitered square is made, then it will be time to do battle with the gauge. It is not unusual to rip back a project half a dozen times or so, until I'm satisfied with how it looks. By the time this afghan is actually cast on, I should be highly proficient.
