Samples
Samples are brilliant. What a wonderful way to introduce a new spinner to different fibers or even to new fiber artists.
This is a sample of hand-dyed Southdown from Hilltop Cloud. The wool has an odd, crunchy texture to it, and appears to be quite crimped. It drafted just fine, but the yarn came out kind of thick and thin, because it is fiber I'm not familiar with. I made a two-ply sample, and it was interesting to see how it fluffed up, when it was soaked. It softened up some, but the texture reminds me of a 1970's davenport my parents owned.
