Mother's Day Adventure

I unintentionally participated in my very first 5k on Mother's Day. By unintentional, I mean there was no planning, no training, etc. How does something like this happen?

It happens when your runner son says, "There's a Mother's Day 5k tomorrow; can I go?" You tell him to find out when, where, how much, and then tell him that you'll get him where he needs to be in the morning. All arrangements are made and then, a short while later, your SO brings him back into the room and says, "You'd better tell her." This is when it dawns on you that he wants YOU to participate in this madness.

So, I went. I found a couple of friends to walk with and turned in a fairly respectable time. It actually turned out to be fun, and I think we're doing the Father's Day 5k in June.
