My Favorite Flamingo

For reasons I don't really care to discuss, the holidays are difficult for me, and this year was particularly bad.  I made this for a friend who organized a card swap that was a real lift in the midst of a very dark season.

This is Flamingo, by Nunoco, and the pattern is Favorite Scarf Ever.  My first pattern choice was a drop stitch scarf, which I thought would not emphasize the thick and thin so much, but I was very wrong and had to switch patterns.  Not only did this pattern help with the thick and thin, but what truly amazed me was how the final washing and blocking further evened out the stitches.

Night picture for texture:

I did modify the pattern slightly, in that I did not knit two halves and graft them together.  Not only because I had already wound the ball and didn't want to go back and figure out how much half was, but also because having a miscalculated join would have bothered me far more than an upside down chevron.  Sometimes, saving my sanity is more important.
