Double Pointed Needles
I have always been intimidated by double-pointed needles and those knitters who had mastered them, knitting fabulous things beyond my ability.
I recently bought my first set of dpn's. Quite frankly, I was in danger of putting my eye out, with needles flopping this way and that. I could not make sense of what I was doing, until a friend (and fabulous knitter) gave me the hint she received when trying to figure out dpn's herself:
"no matter how many needles you have dangling, you are still only knitting with 2 needles at a time. Learn to let them dangle and only focus on your working needles."
The lightbulb went on, and I managed to knit something that looked like a small sleeve. I am now in the process of figuring out how to knit socks. Wish me luck!
