Lazy Girl Throws a Wedding
Okay, I'm not really lazy. However, I do have a high-stress job that requires me to work long hours on rotating shifts. Therefore, I really don't have the time and energy to put together a wedding extravaganza like you see on the Website-That-Shall-kNot-Be-Named, or magazines, or TV or anywhere else. So, here are my tips for putting together a relatively stress-free wedding.
1. Choose a venue that is so awesome you don't have to decorate. We're using the South Pacific Aquarium at Point Defiance Zoo.
2. Find an awesome venue that has a caterer. Lancer Catering does the catering for Point Defiance Zoo, and their food is wonderful. Dinner with the sharks, anyone?
3. Lock down your venue, caterer, and officiant early. These three items are the ones that usually are booked fastest, so the sooner you can get yours locked in, the less you'll have to stress about.
Oddly enough, the invitations had me stressed out. Trying to find something that was simple (without being plain), elegant, and not cartoon-like was a bit of a challenge, as well as the verbiage. We're both well over forty, and my parents are deceased. None of the standard language applies. My partner really stepped up to the plate and helped to find invitations we both liked and wording that wouldn't make anyone barf.
The last thing I need to do is write my vows; everything else is in place.
