Coop D'Ville
Last weekend, the coop was completed and the flock was split. Five of the ladies are now in the coop, and the other five have been sent to the Chicken Palace, out of town.
Chicken Palace sounds like a euphemism, but it's not. Several years ago, my father-in-law built an 8x8 log cabin (with run) for his flock, which then numbered around fifty. I'm sure those five chickens are enjoying all that space and sending up flares to find their way back to the roost.
Our big chickens looking out the door, trying to decide who would be brave enough to attempt the ramp.
The first one to set foot outside the door. A second chicken joined her, and the littlest one flew down the ramp. We're convinced she was pushed. The chickens had to be put to bed the first couple of nights, but they have since decided that the ramp isn't such a scary thing and use it willingly.
Rescue chicken is still recuperating and doing quite well. She will have a separate room in the new coop, soon.
