Simply Wild Wood
This is Wild Wood by Nunoco, a combination of merino, tussah silk, and silk noil. It is the color of green water,
shreds of mist floating through trees,
the color of pines and the moss beneath.
It is the greens you see in the Columbia Gorge closer to Portland and an absolutely fascinating spin.
The batts were rolled out and split vertically into thirds by weight, and each bobbin was two sections, light to dark.
This is a two-ply yarn, approx 12-14 wraps per inch (DK weight), and since it is truly the star here, I chose Simple Lines to set it off.
This project turned out exactly the way I intended in terms of yarn weight and gradient. A couple of things happened unintentionally that actually worked out quite well overall. For example, I wouldn't have deliberately chosen to make the border variegated, but it works. The section of barber poled yarn that I disliked and worried about became a perfect section of eyelets.
And because it's all the greens of Oregon, there is only one person that this could belong to. May she wear it in good health for many years to come. :-)
