Ten Stitch Blanket
I've been working on squares for Blankets for Badges, and I discovered that there is not enough yarn in my stash to come up with a complete blanket. So, it was back to the drawing board.
I've never made a full-sized blanket before, and the thought of guessing how many stitches, coming up short, then having to rip and re-knit just didn't appeal to me. Thankfully, there's Ravelry, and I came across Frankie Brown's Ten-Stitch Blanket. The beauty of this is that you start in the middle and simply go until the blanket is big enough. I'm in the process of working on my first one, which will go to my work partner. I'm using Lion Brand's Homespun, and while it's certainly soft enough and forgiving in terms of how things look, I don't recommend using this the first time you attempt this pattern, because it's difficult to see where the stitches go, due to the waviness of the yarn.
The photo shows the wrong side, and was taken before a serious rip session. Because it was so difficult to see where the stitches needed to go, I had knit two or three stitches in the same spot periodically along the edge, which was resulting in ruffled sides.
So, one or two more squares to finish and mail off, hopefully next month, and then a full blanket. I'm sorry that I'm moving slower that what I had intended, but things will get to their destination.
